The New Year's Eve and New Year's Concerts of the Basel Symphony Orchestra set the tone for champagne mood. Look forward to the newest star in the Swiss soprano sky, Chelsea Zurflüh! The winner of the renowned Concours de Genève shows herself in all her facets. Whether in Ambroise Thomas’s brilliant bravura aria Je suis Titania or Johann Strauss’s winkingly playful Fledermaus aria Mein Herr Marquis. Composers like the fighting Ethel Smyth or Jeanine Tesori with The Girl in 14G give this New Year's concert a very special touch. Maestro Giampaolo Bisanti also conducts the orchestra through the lively polonaise from Tchaikovsky’s Eugen Onegin and two overtures by Rossini and Donizetti – of course from his homeland Italy!
