Shem Thomas - From dropout to gold-status single. At the age of 30, Shem Thomas decided on a radical new beginning: What initially reminds one of the Canadian film "Into the Wild" was the start of a career as a professional musician. He quit his job, lived in a VW bus, and found his way back to music. What began with street performances led him in 2014 to the finals of "The Voice of Switzerland" – and straight to number 1 on the Swiss charts with his debut single «Crossroads». His first album was certified gold, and the follow-up «8» also landed in the top 5 of the Swiss album charts, showcasing him as a versatile artist who refuses to be pigeonholed. His music is a wild mix of catchy singer-songwriter melodies, electronically infused pop, and excursions into various musical realms, including reggae. Shem Thomas captivates with a distinctive voice that is both rough and warm, as well as a charismatic stage presence. Whether at Moon & Stars, Openair Gampel, or sold-out small theaters – for over a decade, the Inner Swiss has been a fixed part of the Swiss music scene. With new music and songs like «Coastline», «Someone», and the duet «We Can» with Jaël, he opens a new musical chapter in 2025 – honest, organic, and close to the audience.
