Description
Shaped by mobility, prosperity, and individualized lifestyles, our built environment has increasingly developed into an accumulation of monofunctional and often only partially used spaces. At the same time, a change is emerging: multiple uses, shared infrastructures, and flexible spatial concepts are gaining importance in the sense of the sharing economy. They open up new possibilities for resource-efficient management of existing buildings and challenge established notions of use and ownership. How this change can succeed, what challenges are associated with it, and which approaches are already being discussed and implemented today in architecture, urban planning, and design are illuminated by Schauraum B within a series of events with lectures and discussions. The lecture by Sarah Barth, architect MSc ETH, Atelier für Architektologie, is dedicated to the topic "Usage Densification: Sharing Spaces Instead of Building New Ones." Within her foundation board mandates at the public-law Wohnraum Basel Foundation and the Foundation for Art, Culture, and History (SKKG) in Winterthur, she is committed to affordable housing. As co-owner and board member of Kantensprung AG, she is further developing the Gundeldinger Feld. Credit: Photo © Keystone, Daniel Kempf-Seifried
