The art studies where they met are long past, success has eluded them. Rio loses himself in petty criminal activities around his drug addiction, deal after deal keeps him on the move. Alice works as a waitress, clings to unfinished love songs, and defends the last facade with her faltering Fiat between shacks and raves, prison and social welfare. The turning point only becomes possible when friends intervene. Seven years later, Alice stands at Rio's door to talk about the past. She is working on a novel, wanting to understand her story. But memory remains unreliable, and Rio struggles with the narrator's interpretive power. Alice escapes into invention, but even there the old abysses of their relationship lurk. Sarah Elena Müller tells this hopeless love and the power and powerlessness of storytelling surprisingly lightly and with subtle humor. About the Author Sarah Elena Müller, born in 1990, moves fluidly between literature, music, research, and performance. With the spoken-pop combo "Cruise Ship Misery," she has released two albums, most recently the songbook Brutto Inland Netto Super Clean with the publisher "Der gesunde Menschenversand." Since 2024, she has been working in the team of the SNF project "Autofiction & Consciousness." Her debut novel Bild ohne Mädchen was published by Limmat Verlag, received multiple awards, and was nominated for the "Swiss Book Prize." Sarah Elena Müller lives in Bümpliz.
