The French pianist and composer Sarah Coponat belongs to a new generation of artists who move effortlessly between classical, improvisation, and contemporary piano music. Trained at the Conservatoire National, she developed a distinctive musical language early on, blending romantic soundscapes, impressive cinematic sound images, and virtuosic joy of playing into a unique style. After her sold-out piano evening at the Salle Cortot in Paris, Sarah Coponat is presenting works from her new album "Lost Rhapsodies" for the first time in Basel. The previously unreleased compositions tell of memory, longing, and departure – poetic soundscapes full of intensity and richness of color. In the second part of the evening, Coponat explores themes and motifs from her previous albums "Paris," "Atlas," and "Demons," developing them further in free improvisation. Each concert becomes a unique experience: familiar musical ideas are reborn in the moment, change their form, and unfold in ever-new facets. Sarah Coponat's playing is characterized by extraordinary virtuosity and great emotional immediacy. Powerful outbursts stand alongside delicate, almost floating moments, clear melodies alongside spontaneous sound freedom. Thus, a concert is created that impressively combines classical concert tradition and creative improvisation – personal, intense, and full of surprises. French pianist Marc Laforêt, a student of Rubinstein and prizewinner of the International Chopin Competition, says about Sarah Coponat: "Sarah Coponat is an extraordinary artist with a luminous aura.
