What are these invisible companions doing in Bern? They move through the city, play, explore, and leave small traces in our everyday life. They do not seek meaning in their actions and pursue no specific goal. They are there and exist. The pen intuitively follows the images and creates an alternative world frame by frame. Sarah Binz creates a combination of real footage, paper, and drawing, from which her joy in the craft can be felt. The direct, uncomplicated, and analog work has long been a concern for the artist. Sarah Binz works on and with real images of Bern and connects the visible outside world with a world that still needs to be brought to paper through her drawings. «XOXO» is the abbreviation for a small kiss at the end of a note. In this case, a video note – a fleeting greeting that slips past the busy everyday life. A reminder that not everything has to have a clear purpose, that something can arise from the joy of making, and that pure existence also has a right to exist. XOXO Sarah Binz (*1997) completed her Bachelor's in 2D Animation at HSLU in Lucerne and has since been a freelance animator and illustrator. The filmmaker is inspired by nature, urban life, and her surreal dreams.
