Founded in 1977 in Oakville, Ontario, SAGA stands for a unique blend of melodic progressive rock, complex synthesizer arrangements, and distinctive guitar riffs. Formed by bassist Jim Crichton and singer/keyboardist Michael Sadler together with Ian Crichton, Steve Negus, and Peter Rochon, the band has developed its own musical universe over the decades. Their international breakthrough came in 1981 with the album "Worlds Apart," which was certified gold in the USA. Two major SAGA classics, "On the Loose" and "Wind Him Up," were created. "On the Loose" reached number 26 on the Billboard Hot 100 and gained attention in Canada and Europe. In 1982, they received the Juno Award for "Most Promising Group of the Year." With a total of 22 studio albums, numerous live releases and compilations, and over ten million albums sold, SAGA has a remarkable career. A special chapter in the band's history is "The Chapters" – a large-scale conceptual science fiction song cycle spanning several albums. SAGA is by no means just a relic of past rock decades. The band still has a passionate international fan base today. Especially in Europe and Germany, SAGA has established a solid position on stages and in the hearts of their fans over the decades. For the 50th anniversary, the current lineup of Michael Sadler, Ian Crichton, Jim Gilmour, Mike Thorne, and Mike Borkosky brings the band's history back to the stage.
