He is easy to understand: he is 66 years old and has been on stage for 33 years. Rolf Schmid became nationally known in Switzerland in the 1990s as the face and advertising ambassador of Rhäzünser mineral water. Numerous tours followed, as well as appearances in popular TV shows such as Benissimo, Rondo Mondo, Arosa Humor Festival, or Giacobbo/Müller.

"I mag eifach nid!" is cult
With a total of 12 solo programs, he repeatedly made the audience laugh – and received not only countless "standing ovations," which he liked to counter with "Sit down, I'm still here," but also awards such as the prestigious Prix Walo and various comedy awards. With his legendary number "I mag eifach nid!" he finally achieved cult status. "It fills me with some pride that this line is still passed down through all generations today and also stands for joy of life," says a happy Rolf Schmid.

Rolf private – almost as funny as on stage
Away from the spotlight, Schmid has remained a family man. Between performances, tours, and rehearsals, he always managed to be there for his loved ones – and never neglected cooking his legendary "Schmid’sche Älplermagronen." Whether as a father, friend, or host: his down-to-earth nature is as unmistakable as his humor. "So far, I have been able to do what brings me joy. For that, I am very grateful," says Rolf Schmid.

A funny book as a bestseller
In 2023, Rolf Schmid published the book "I mag einfach nid." This is a book that comedian Rolf Schmid and his writer Hardy Hemmi originally never wanted. They only wanted to note a few anecdotes from the almost normal life of the trained baker-confectioner and later comedian Rolf Schmid and eventually bring these biographical episodes to the stage somehow, somewhere, and sometime. Overnight, the whole project took on a life of its own and gained momentum like a rushing mountain stream after a thunderstorm. And then it started: The almost normal life of Rolf Schmid often proves to be miles away from any norm in hindsight. And much of what seems hilarious and funny from today's distance was often anything but that back then. The funny book becomes a bestseller.
