Description

A weekend at Schwarzsee — Cold, Encounter & Inner Strength
Some experiences change something. Not spectacular, not loud — but quiet and sustainable. Three days at Schwarzsee in the canton of Fribourg are such an experience. A mountain lake that freezes over in winter. A house that warms. A group that embarks on the same path. And the cold — as a teacher, as a mirror, as a resource.
Resilience is the ability to cope with crises, stress, and setbacks and emerge stronger. Cold resistance is a way there — one of the most direct there is. Those who learn to consciously open themselves to the cold train exactly that inner attitude that also carries in everyday life: focus, breath control, calmness, and trust in one's own body. WHO IS THIS OFFER FOR?
This weekend is aimed at people with and without experience in cold bathing who want to take the next step — more depth, more knowledge, more community. Those who know the basics and are ready to further develop them in an intensive setting are exactly right here.
Accompanying persons who do not want to go into the water are also expressly welcome — the supporting program with cold hiking, resilience impulse, breath deepening, meditation, and theory is enriching for everyone, regardless of the ice bath. THE PROGRAM
The exact program is designed depending on the group and weather conditions — cold cannot be planned, only prepared for. Theory and practice will not be neglected. The principle applies: no one must, everyone can. What awaits you: Theoretical refresh: The 5 keys to enjoying the cold
Cold works — but only if you understand how. In a well-founded theory block, we go through the five keys to enjoying the cold together: motivation, physiology, breathing, the first minute & the autonomic nervous system, as well as targeted warming up. Knowledge that flows directly into practice. Breath deepening
Breathing is the most direct access to the cold — and to one's own center. In this block, we deepen existing knowledge: How does breathing affect the autonomic nervous system? How do I consciously use it before, during, and after the ice bath? For all who already have experience and want to specifically expand their breathing repertoire. Cold hiking
Being outside, breathing, experiencing the cold as a companion — not as an enemy. The cold hike at Schwarzsee is an experience in itself and at the same time the ideal preparation for everything that follows.
Drilling the ice hole & ice bathing
The centerpiece. Together we prepare the ice hole — with drill and saw, with care and concentration. The ice bath afterwards is not a test of courage but a conscious, prepared act. Safely accompanied, deeply experienced. Resilience impulse
What connects cold resistance with mental resilience? This impulse links the physical experience with the mental foundation — and gives impulses that have effects far beyond the weekend. Warming up as part of the process
Warming up after the ice bath is not an appendix — it is an independent part of the cold experience. Targeted movement exercises, breathing techniques, and conscious perception of one's own warmth: here the circle closes.
Meditation & silence
Pause, reflect, arrive. Meditation is a fixed part of the weekend — as a counterpoint to activity and as a space for the inner processing of the experienced. Cold challenge
For all who want to go one step further — a serious encounter with one's own limits that brings joy. Snowshoe hiking, night hiking & more
Schwarzsee offers a unique backdrop in winter. Those who want can explore it on snowshoes or on a night hike — moments that remain in memory for a long time. Individually or in a group. Celebrating community
The weekend offers countless opportunities to experience and celebrate community. In personal, deep conversations in the house or outdoors. Helping with meal preparation or eating the fine vegetarian dishes. Enjoying individually is also possible. Our program principle applies: “no one must – everyone can.” This leaves room for individual walks, shopping, cross-country skiing, ice skating, skiing, snowshoe hiking, and much more. Knowledge transfer
Besides lots of practice with integrated knowledge transfer, there will also be the opportunity to learn or refresh knowledge. Possible topics: why cold exposure, health benefits, risks, safety and dangers on the ice, hardware for ice bathing, why at night, sleeping under the starry sky. Sleeping
Basically, we sleep in the Naturfreundehaus in 4, 5, 6, and 12-bed rooms. These rooms can also be booked alone for small groups. There is also the possibility to sleep outside under the starry sky in your own suitable sleeping bag and mat (and in an emergency, you can always go back into the room). THE HOUSE
Chalet Aurore is located less than five minutes' walk from the Schwarzsee Gypsera bus stop — directly on the lakeshore, only 50 meters from the Kaiseregg ski lifts. We have the house exclusively for ourselves. 48 beds in various room sizes, a large dining room for about 50 people, a fully equipped kitchen — and the view of a frozen mountain lake. There are toilets on every floor, washrooms, and showers as well.
Here you eat together. Here you talk late into the evening. Here arises what a course alone cannot achieve: real encounter and conscious exchange. DATES & PRICES

Since 2015, Beni has been friends with the cold. What began as a personal experiment — enjoying cold in mountain lakes, winter hikes in summer clothing, overnight stays in the open nature — is now his passion and mission. As a certified cold specialist and founder of the Kältenetzwerk, he connects cold with nature, health, and mental balance. He is responsible for the overall program, leads the ice hole drilling, and ensures that the weekend becomes an experience that resonates. Martin Rohner — Mental coach & certified cold coach
Martin uses the element water to find clarity and focus on what is essential here and now. As a certified mental coach, he combines mental focus, breathing, and cold into a coherent whole. He leads the resilience impulse, the meditations, and the warm-up exercises — and brings the theoretical basics of the cold experience alive and practically close. Other professionals
Depending on group size and program focus, we invite experienced professionals to complement the team — from the fields of movement, outdoor practice, mental health, and more. Those who accompany us live what they convey.
