Travel Lecture Rwanda and Uganda

The Interest Group for Habitat and Environment (IGLU) Volketswil invites all interested parties to a travel lecture. Frank Auderset reports on his journey through Rwanda and Uganda and shows pictures of the rich wildlife. The event takes place on October 30, 2026, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Community Center In der Au and is free of charge. Afterwards, we welcome all participants to a reception. Rwanda, "the land of a thousand hills," and Uganda, "the pearl of Africa," are located in the region of the great African lakes and captivate every visitor with their diversity – vast savannas, volcanoes, and mountain lakes. They are home to the rare mountain gorillas and chimpanzees as well as a variety of mammals and birds. We are on the move by foot, boat, and four-wheel drive to observe primates, wildlife, and birds up close. Following in the footsteps of Dian Fossey, we visit the impenetrable mountain rainforests to see the "gentle jungle giants," the mountain gorillas. In his travel lecture, Frank Auderset shows pictures and videos from the Akagera National Park, the Virunga volcanoes, the Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, the Bwindi and Queen Elizabeth National Parks, the Kyambura Gorge, the Kibale National Park, and the impressive Murchison Falls, Lake Victoria, and the Nile.
