Elena and her daughters Lucia and Aurora are preparing to leave Peru, where social and political unrest is spreading, for the USA. With mixed feelings, the three look forward to their farewell – from their country, from family and friends, and from Carlos, the father and ex-husband. He, a charming dreamer, has hardly been around for a long time. Now, as the travel date approaches, he tries to reconnect with his daughters… Klaudia Reynicke left Peru with part of her family at the age of ten towards Europe. With the feature film 'Love Me Tender' (2019), the Swiss-Peruvian director has made a name for herself internationally. In the autobiographically inspired 'Reinas', she tells of the challenges faced by children and parents at a turning point in life, of fears and hopes, and of the need for belonging.
