Open-Air Gallery "Kreuzlinger Hanging"

Description

The Art Commission of the city of Kreuzlingen initiated the design of the wall surfaces of the underpass at the suggestion of the Kurzrickenbach neighborhood association. The creative teams from the Open Atelier Mansio, the Open Youth Work Kreuzlingen (OJA), and the Besmerhuus association created this open-air exhibition. Creations in word and image were produced. Acrylic paint was used to paint, write, dab, and spray. The motifs are diverse and freely designed by the artists' hands. A so-called salon hanging was created. This term refers to a particularly tight arrangement of paintings. Often, these reach up to the ceiling, with the frames of the works hanging close together. It is also known as the Petersburg hanging. This term refers to the richly hung walls of the Saint Petersburg Hermitage (art museum). The project was inaugurated in June 2021 by the Art Commission of the city of Kreuzlingen and the Kurzrickenbach neighborhood association.
