Regionale 27

Description

The regional unfolds in the tri-border area where Switzerland, France, and Germany meet. It is a region characterized as much by its borders as by its transitions. Every year, the exhibition brings together artistic positions from this trinational context and simultaneously takes place at institutions throughout the region.
For the 27th edition, Kunsthalle Basel presents works by artists from the region alongside works by invited artists living in Bangladesh. This constellation continues the ongoing engagement of the Regionale with questions of proximity, exchange, and belonging, and asks what defines a region in 2026 and how its contours can be understood beyond the geographical.

The exhibition is curated by Mohamed Almusibli and Diana Campbell, together with Yana Kadykova, Ruxmini Reckvana Q Choudhury, and Swilin Haque. This edition of the Regionale 27 exhibition is created in collaboration with the Swiss Cultural Foundation Pro Helvetia, New Delhi, and the Samdani Art Foundation, Dhaka.
The Regionale 27 takes place from November 28, 2026, to January 3, 2027, at participating institutions in Switzerland, France, and Germany.
