Description

Austere, earthy, Ramuz is the Swiss writer by definition. An institution, serious, with granite sealed on a reinforced concrete base. His name intimidates, frightens, like a Commander's statue casting its shadow over the Alpine massif and the Vaud countryside, Lake Geneva, and the Romance letters. Generally, he is an author with a modest life journey. In his work, no exoticism or eroticism, but earthy characters with deep roots under their hooves. No trace of an extraterrestrial in the chalet, little sensationalism, but a surprising suspense.
So, seriously, can we laugh at the character and his work? Shall we dare? It is a perilous exercise we have undertaken. A trapeze act of one-armed trapezists. Striking like deaf mutes against the monolithic block of received ideas, we discovered a strange and parallel life for him. By seeking the quiet irony hidden subtly in his texts, by unraveling the mythic tapestry, we might, who knows, discover other things." Plonk & Replonk Zbigl!

Led by Jacques Froidevaux, Miguel-Angel Morales, and other artists, the Plonk & Replonk Zbigl! collective swims with a spontaneous joy in absurd humor. Their famous retro-inspired photo montages have contaminated various formats: books, posters, postcards, stickers, frames, animations, theater,... Among their influences, we can mention Erik Satie, Alphonse Allais, Glen Baxter, Gary Larson, or Pierre Dac. Little known, they are leaders in the European market of concrete garden gnomes.
