Dr. Marc Philip Seidel, Director Museum Burghalde Whether on the highway, in cities or in parks: Gillian White's art is omnipresent. Yet the life's work of the Wahlaargau artist is unknown to most. Her powerful steel structures, like the carousel on Gertrud-Villiger-Platz, contrast with picturesque drawings and poetic small sculptures. The astonishing dancer-like lightness permeates them all. The lively play with the fluid permeates spaces and relativizes boundaries. Just as her art challenges our visual habits, her biography reveals questioning of norms. Johanna Siegenthaler, co-curator and daughter of the artist, has approached the life and work of her parents, the artist couple Gillian White and Albert Siegenthaler, anew within the framework of estate management. What it means to take over an entire life's work – or rather two – she tells at this “Prosecco” conversation evening. The event takes place as part of the accompanying exhibition “Gillian White: Clouds” at the Icon Museum (until 1.11.2026). Furthermore, a second exhibition on Gillian White's work invites you in Aargau (until 1.12.2026, Eduard Spörri Art Museum, Wettingen).
