Description

Joshua Broger (2001) is a hammered dulcimer player from Trogen AR. Rooted in Appenzeller folk music, he began hammered dulcimer lessons with Albert Graf in Appenzell at the age of six.
Today, he combines these musical roots with influences, continually exploring the sonic possibilities
of the hammered dulcimer, as well as various solo concerts and
media appearances from jazz, pop, and electronic music. In summer 2026, Joshua completed his Bachelor's degree in the folk music profile with a major in hammered dulcimer
under Christoph Pfändler at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. He then began the Master's program
in instrumental pedagogy, where he combines the focuses of hammered dulcimer and producing. This combination also shapes his own musical work. With projects like the band «Äädig» and «Beyond Borders», Joshua moves between
folk music, jazz, pop, and electronic music. Under this name, the event label
organizes its own concerts together with its collaborators, where DJs and live musicians come together.
In solo performances, he unites his different musical backgrounds
or adapts them to the respective setting. He also strengthens the band «Aleachtung» on
hammered dulcimer. Under his producer project BROG3R, he deals with electronic music and music production independently of the hammered dulcimer,
adding another facet to his musical work. Besides his concert activities, Joshua teaches hammered dulcimer. His musical roots lie
in Appenzeller folk music, but he is also interested in many things beyond that. In his
music, tradition and improvisation meet just as much as groove and electronic music.

General Information

The award ceremony of the Wyher Castle Foundation takes place on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at the picturesque Wyher Water Castle. In addition to the award ceremony, a reception will be offered, where guests have the opportunity to mingle and enjoy the musical performances.
