Description

The complete presentation of Janáček's operas during the 10th edition of the festival is a unique opportunity to enjoy not only his masterpieces but also to get acquainted with works that are rarely seen on stage today. In addition to Janáček's first opera Šárka, his second opera Počátek románu is included, a piece significantly influenced by Janáček's intense interest in folklore. The libretto is based on the short story of the same name by Gabriela Preissová, inspired by the genre painting of Jaroslav Věšín, and its author was – after the rejection of Eliška Krásnohorské – Janáček's classmate from high school, František Rypáček, publishing under the name Jaromír Tichý.
