A solo performance at the intersection of dance, physical theater, and visual art, presenting a visually striking study of balance, endurance, and creativity. 22 conference chairs, an obsessive rhythm, and one body in constant interaction with the space. In the solo performance PLI, Viktor Černický becomes both the architect and the living building material, transforming ordinary objects into fascinating visual compositions in an endless cycle of construction, deconstruction, and reconstruction. The space is constantly shaped under his hands – a dynamic installation collides with performative precision, movement turns into sculpture, chaos into a perfectly organized whole. Drawing on the baroque philosophy of Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz, PLI is an unpredictable and humorous performance where baroque robustness is replaced by spatial modesty and material minimalism. Since its premiere in 2018, PLI has been presented on more than 120 stages worldwide – from the very first presentation of Czech choreography at the Théâtre de la Ville in Paris, through Barcelona, Rome, Stockholm to Bangkok, Hong Kong, and more. Among nearly 700 different projects, PLI ranked among the top twenty European performances in the prestigious catalog Aerowaves Twenty20. Young audiences in London helped adapt the project for the youngest age groups in the Shape It project. In 2019, PLI received both the Audience Award and the Main Prize of the Czech Dance Platform. Viktor Černický was nominated for the concept and choreography in the category of Dance and Physical Theater at the Theater Newspaper Awards 2019. However, this project remains almost unknown in Prague. “Leibniz connects the seemingly impossible. It leads us to think about the complexity and sophistication of this world through very simple and understandable principles. It multiplies and composes them, bends them in every possible way and so many times that we ultimately stand before the World as a sophisticated architectural work. It creates a piece extremely rich in details, elaborately styled, robustly shaped, and hard to believe, yet remains simple, modest, and absolutely true. Leibniz was a true child of the baroque epoch. One hour before the start, the INDUSTRA theater bar will be open, which will remain open after the performance depending on visitor interest. We love animals at INDUSTRA, but the theater hall is not a suitable environment for them due to the loud noise – we recommend leaving your four-legged companions at home.
