Description
An evening of musical theater that fuses the music of Pink Floyd with the world of Edgar Allan Poe. Atom Heart Mother is a 24-minute composition by Pink Floyd from 1970, representing a true integration of classical culture into pop music. It features an unconventional ensemble. At Rigiblick, alongside a 30-member choir with soloists, the Pink Floyd tribute band "Crazy Diamond," 14 brass players, a cellist, and an actor perform. We juxtapose Pink Floyd's music with Edgar Allan Poe's narrative "The Fall of the House of Usher." Pink Floyd has repeatedly engaged with the phenomenon of "madness" through the drug-induced psychosis of their founding member Syd Barrett (1946-2006). In Poe's vivid and powerful story "The Fall of the House of Usher," the narrator's friend suffers from a mental illness.
