Description

The third season concert of Camerata Variabile is dedicated to the communication of plants. Texts by Basel biologist Florianne Koechlin are paired with compositions in which plants and trees are brought to life in various ways. This includes the new "Tree Piece" composed by Carola Bauckholt for the Camerata.
The starting point is current insights into how plants communicate with each other. As part of the "Lost in Translation" season, the question also arises: how can this communication be musically translated?
Another perspective is offered by mezzo-soprano Katalin Károly with Thomas Adès’ "Növények" – Hungarian for "plants," but more broadly "things that grow." The program is complemented by a new work by Helena Winkelman with Hungarian texts, as well as older compositions in which botanical images become a mirror of human experiences.
