Description

Farce in three acts After Wilhelm Jacoby and Carl Laufs I Adaptation: Hugo Wiener Philipp Lenzmeyer, a wealthy man, has inherited a rural villa which he wants to develop into a nerve sanatorium for the good of humanity. He seeks inspiration for his business model – preferably by meeting a group of crazies in the big city. Nephew Alfred helps and brings the uncle to the notorious "Pension Schöller" known for its eccentricity. Lenzmeyer, who truly believes the guests are mad, has a great time. When Lenzmeyer unwittingly invites the pension guests into his own house and everyone causes an unprecedented escalation there, his initial euphoria turns to dismay. No other German boulevard comedy has remained so fresh for so long as the 1890s "Pension Schöller," which has been frequently filmed and performed countless times.
