Description

We will kick off the season with the satirical comedy Ošklivec, written by the successful German playwright Marius von Mayenburg. Mayenburg opens the theme of identity loss in a world where everyone wants to be equally beautiful and perfect. With humorous detachment, but all the more urgently, he presents us with the existential question: Can we keep our face when we have our appearance enhanced? The parable on the theme of human beauty and uniqueness is so profound that, despite the witty lines, it chills us with the grotesqueness of a world that could become our future, if we are not already living in it. Our lives are shaped by the dictates of our surroundings, to which we voluntarily submit because we want to please. But are we really ourselves, and is it truly our life? Directed by Pavel Gejguš, who previously presented the erotic 'thriller' Zlatý osel at the Arena, you can look forward to a clever comedy in which our actors will fully enjoy their 'beauty.'
