Public Tours Slate Factory Elm 2026

Description

After production was discontinued, the "Stiftung pro Elm" acquired the property with the aim of preserving the last witness of the once flourishing slate industry for future generations. All the tools, equipment, and machines needed to produce writing slates are still present. Slate dust, sawdust, and glue smell returned to the rooms. The old craft is now presented – combined with modern museum education – to interested visitors.
