Description

«OCIO» envisions a near future where artificial intelligence has replaced human labor and former workers are condemned to endless vacation. To prevent an impending social crisis, governments delegate political and economic decisions to an artificial oracle. Its solution is as rational as it is absurd: the diamond-covered exoplanet 55 Cancri e is to be exploited to make all humans on Earth rich. But the promise of unlimited prosperity turns into a dystopia. Markets collapse, devastation advances, and Earth transforms into a gigantic open-air jewelry store: dazzling, hot, and inhospitable.
Amidst this world, two former office workers wander along beaches of shining debris. They try to remember what longing feels like and why the new once mattered. Like in an endless video game, they go through a series of trials that increasingly turn inward.
