Description

The evening of the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra will open with Dvořák's famous Cello Concerto in B minor. He composed it in 1894 for the Viennese cellist Hanuš Wihan. The second part of the program will feature The Rite of Spring by Igor Stravinsky. The work was completed in 1913 for the ballet of Sergei Diaghilev. Stravinsky transformed an ancient pagan ritual into a musical form full of unusual harmonic progressions and rhythmic innovations.
