Description
Where the noise of the world falls silent, magic begins. Petra and Gerhard Zwerger-Schoner have not only traveled to Norway – they have inhaled it. It all started in 1995 with storms and continuous rain and the desire to get home as quickly as possible, but it developed into a lifelong passion. Today, three decades and many trips later, the renowned travel journalists Petra and Gerhard Zwerger-Schoner look back on a connection with Norway that goes far deeper than typical postcard motifs. For their new live show, the filmmakers delved again six months into the country and present a picture of Norway in almost surreal, epic force – a blend of technical perfection and disarming honesty. While their footage unfolds a intoxicating aesthetic, the duo remains wonderfully down-to-earth on stage. They do not hide moments of personal failure nor the fact that there are often worlds between the perfection on the screen and the reality on site – whether it’s the months-long cohabitation away from comfort zones, the struggle with their own expectations, or the truth behind the seemingly lonely wilderness 'Instagram photo spot'. With this honest perspective, a good dose of self-irony, and their charming manner, they captivate their audience. The globetrotters also portray the people and show their extraordinary life paths up close. Like Johann Helberg, who one morning found a 30,000-ton container ship in his front yard – and took the almost catastrophe with a stoic calmness that only the North probably teaches. Or Reidun and Svend Otto, who created a lovable-curious refuge with their 'Pick-up Café'. Behind the facade of 50s vintage cars lies a deeply impressive life philosophy and Nordic determination that turned nothing into a worldwide magnet. Kjell Norman also belongs to these originals; he saved an old wooden house from the fate of being firewood and built his refuge on the Lofoten. Norway has changed, and Petra & Gerhard have grown with it. Their lecture invites to dream, but also encourages reflection – on the value of nature, longing for vastness, and the happiness of simply being 'there'. Touching, inspiring, and full of visually powerful emotions. Additional information:
