Description

The singer, composer, percussionist, multi-instrumentalist, and storyteller effortlessly meets all vocal demands from baritone to flute-like falsetto with his vast vocal range. The special magic of his pieces lies – alongside his voice and instruments like the kalimba and ngoni (African harp) – in the breathtaking drumming skills with which he practices his polyrhythmic magic. Njamy Sitson is a Cameroonian vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and music therapist living in Germany. As an artist with an atypical career path, he draws inspiration from the richness of the traditional music of his homeland and world music, including jazz, classical oriental, and European music. He has taught vocal polyphony and polyrhythm from Central Africa at renowned institutions, including the University of the Arts in Zurich, the University of Augsburg, the University of Dresden, the Free Music Center Munich, and several conservatories. Additionally, he taught 'Intermedial Practice' during his academic teaching assignment in art therapy at the Medical School Hamburg. Besides his educational work, he collaborates with outstanding musicians such as Adama Dramé, Famoudou Konaté, Marco Lobo (Milton Nascimento), Takuya Taniguchi, Prof. Peter Michael Hamel (John Cage, Stockhausen), Rhani Krija (Sting), Wolfgang Lackerschmid (Chet Baker), Kishor Ghosh (Ravi Shankar), Classica Afrobeat Orchestra, Leopold-Mozart-Quartett, and Modernstring Quartett. The composer has a holistic vision of music and sees it as a vector of resilience, spiritual elevation, and harmony with nature.
