Niculin Janett Quartet

Description

Expressing what is difficult to put into words – this happens in their musical dialogues. "Toxicology Report," the fourth and latest album by the Niculin Janett Quartet, embodies the symbiotic, almost dreamlike interplay of the band. The music processes and reflects times of change. Niculin Janett remains true to himself and does so – as always – with a wink, expressing not only the serious but also the absurd and amusing aspects of the inner and outer world. Janett's compositions are thus also a call for self-reflection and engagement with one's own emotional world. The Niculin Janett Quartet combines the unique sounds of Niculin Janett on saxophone and Dimitri Howald on guitar into a distinctive sound of ethereal tension, sophistication, and heartfelt warmth. Their playful improvisations, subtly underscored by the driving rhythm section with Lisa Hoppe and Philipp Leibundgut, intertwine with Janett's compositions, creating a constantly changing landscape of melodic discoveries. With "UNIT live!" the Moods and the renowned Swiss jazz label UNIT Records join forces to create a joint format. Regularly, we bring current productions from the UNIT cosmos to the Moods stage and showcase the diversity of UNIT jazz.
