Anatomy of the Will In the series ‹New Works›, the place for choreographic innovations, Ballet Basel presents two world premieres about the resilience of the mind and the fragility of humans. The dancer and choreographer Guillaume Hulot, trained in Paris, creates the work ‹Bite the Bullet›. He takes up the eponymous idiom and shows through dance how we face inevitable situations with determination and inner strength. The native Brazilian Lucas Valente from the talent pool of Ballet Zurich presents ‹Substantia Nigra›, a piece about control and decay. Named after the brain structure that controls our movements, the piece explores the ambivalence of existential states: between faith and cynicism, grace and petrification, power and vulnerability.
