Connecting Nature – Join us in caring for a larch meadow

Description

Together with local farmers Chantal and Rico, we are clearing a mountain larch meadow in beautiful Val Lumnezia. We need reinforcements. Will you help? In a friendly group, we clear encroaching vegetation from a meadow above Surcasti. Our efforts contribute to promoting biodiversity by enabling Chantal and Rico to mow the area again. This keeps the meadow open and rich in species – a valuable habitat for numerous plants and animals. At the same time, we gain exciting insights into the challenges of mountain agriculture and life in Surcasti. "Connecting Nature" is a participatory project through which WWF promotes biodiversity in our cultural landscape. For nature, agriculture, and society: farmers work hand in hand with WWF volunteers: they plant hedges and orchards, maintain meadows and pastures, install nesting boxes, and combat neophytes. We meet at the bus stop ‘Uors, vitg. Welcome by the team leader and the farmers Chantal and Rico Derungs. Together, we travel to the work site, where Rico and Chantal explain the tasks. We then get to work together. In good weather, we enjoy our well-deserved lunch in the sun. There is a barbecue area nearby where we can grill. Refreshed, we return to work. After completing the task, we get an insight into the organic farm of the Derungs family and can learn more about the history of Surcasti and the surrounding area on the village trail. We will be on flat and steep terrain, so there is something for everyone to do or discover.

Good footwear is recommended. Catering
Food is provided. Please specify vegan / vegetarian when registering.
Please bring enough personal drinks (min. 2-3 liters). Equipment
Work clothing (long pants), good footwear (sturdy mountain shoes above ankle height with good tread), sun or rain protection, enough drinks, if available: work gloves (tools will be provided), personal medication. Implementation
The final decision about the event will be communicated by email at the latest on the day before (Friday, October 16). The event will take place even in unfavorable weather. Note

General Information
