Description

Immerse yourself in the biodiversity of the Grisons and help preserve the cultural landscape in Sagogn! Together with Fadri Beeli and his rare Grisons Oberland sheep, we care for nature and create valuable habitats for countless animal species – an unforgettable day on the sunny slopes of Sagogn full of commitment, exchange, and regional delicacies. Are you in? Fadri Beeli has 50 Grisons Oberland sheep, a ProSpecieRara breed. These sheep are light-footed, tough, and highly adaptable (pro specie rara). Fadri and his sheep create open forests on the southern slopes of Sagogn with diverse structures such as hedge groups, stone and branch piles, herb edges, tiered forest edges, and deadwood – and we support him in this. Insects, small animals, reptiles, and birds benefit from this. In this activity, there are many ways for you and your friends and family to help: You can care for the various hedge plants that naturally occur here, create branch and stone piles, clear overgrown pastures, build a weasel castle, etc. There is something for everyone. You will gain a unique insight into a small Grisons business, learn about the Grisons Oberland sheep and their history, and enjoy delicious regional specialties – all in a sociable group. Are you in? “Nature connects” is a participatory project through which WWF promotes biodiversity in our cultural landscape. For nature, for agriculture, for society: farmers work hand in hand with WWF volunteers: they plant hedges and orchards together, care for meadows and pastures, install nesting boxes, and combat neophytes. Program
We meet at the bus stop ‘Sagogn, Carnetg’, directly at the site. Welcome by Fadri Beeli and Nicole Ackermann. Ascent to the site. Fadri and Nicole explain the procedure, tool handling, and measures. In good weather, we enjoy our well-deserved lunch together in the sun at a nearby playground with a barbecue area. Refreshed, we return to work. After completing the work, we take a walk through the idyllic village to Fadri’s farm. There we get an insight into his small business. We meet his sheep and the first newborn lambs. Before heading home, we enjoy a shared afternoon snack and end the day. Leadership
