Description

Alexander von Greyerz, a bachelor with impeccable manners, has an extraordinary friend by his side. This friend wears white fur, is two meters tall, and is only visible to Alexander: Harry is a rabbit. The inseparable pair lends an ear to the everyday fears and desires of people. For Alexander's sister Rosmarie, her brother's behavior is both provocation and embarrassment. When Alexander introduces some party guests to his invisible companion and confidant, Rosmarie finally loses her temper. She commits Alexander to a psychiatric clinic, but the doctors consider her to be the mentally ill one, not Alexander. From then on, misunderstandings follow one another, and a turbulent game of confusion gains momentum. The Broadway play "Harvey," which won the Pulitzer Prize, became world-famous in 1950 through the film adaptation starring James Stewart. The American author Mary Chase (1907–1981) created a life-affirming comedy about the power of imagination and a wonderful plea for kindness and goodness in a world full of madness and aggression. No rabbits, no show!
