Bendicht Gertsch (*1968 in Bern) is the youngest son of the significant Swiss artist Franz Gertsch and has developed an independent sculptural path. Since 2002, he has been consistently dedicated to exploring organically growing forms. Sculptures made of wood and stone emerge, oscillating between natural growth and precise construction. His interest is not only in the external shape but also in the interior space as a shaping volume. Outer and inner forms enter into a tense dialogue and merge into a multi-layered spatial experience. His works combine lightness and heaviness, nature and construction into quiet, poetic pictorial spaces.
