Musical Vespers - A. Ruf

Description

The Vespers is the traditional evening prayer of the Liturgy of the Hours in Christianity. Instead of the usual evening service, this new form has been offered four times a year since 2024.
In the "Musical Vespers," instrumental music from the Renaissance to the Baroque period will be the focus, and works – fitting to the church year – will be performed.
Above all, the Magnificat (Mary's song of praise) is always presented in "Alternatim" form during Vespers. "Alternatim" means alternating in Latin.
The term Alternatimpraxis describes various cases in music, especially church music, where alternating performance occurs: e.g., alternating between cantor and choir, choir and congregation, or vocal and instrumental.
In our Vespers, vocal and organ music are performed alternately. Additionally, the community leader Armin Ruf takes on the reading and prayers.

General Information
