Description

You shall not make a graven image. Moses is chosen to convey God's idea to his people. But how can something unimaginable be communicated without images and terms? While the people dance around the golden calf, Moses' counter-model lies in a desert existence: in an empty space without symbols, where one is thrown back on oneself. The upheavals of the 1920s shape Schönberg's twelve-tone key work and culminate in a moving plea for coexistence without enemy images. Now it is being realized across borders by the theaters of Basel and Freiburg together. Theater legend Walter Hess takes on the role of Moses. With a discourse and framework program in collaboration with the universities of Basel and Freiburg, the Jewish Museum of Switzerland, the Mizmorim Chamber Music Festival, the Stadtkino Basel, and the Kommunales Kino Freiburg, the parable is further developed.
