Jodie Foster plays with real-time to heighten the tension of this hostage situation reminiscent of Dog Day Afternoon and Network through its reflection on media sensationalism. But Money Monster is also a film very much of its time: this entertaining film, skillfully led by two Hollywood stars, records the tremors of the 2008 Great Recession.
