Description

Few Impressionists captured the colors of light on canvas as Claude Monet did. For his plein air painting, he used all technological advances in the manufacture of artist materials and resorted to primed canvases, new paints, and brushes. From personal experience and perception, he captured atmospheric effects with bold brushstrokes—whether smooth or impasto—in a fascinating interplay of colors and shapes. He also incorporated the latest insights into optics and color perception into his painting.
