Description

Inspired by the poetry of Shakespeare and the archaic biblical texts, Herman Melville's novel tells the famous adventure story about the mighty white whale Moby Dick and his vengeful hunter Captain Ahab. The struggle with the forces of nature confronts him and his conspiratorial companions with the fundamental questions of human search for meaning: Why do we live? What is the goal? Captain Ahab sinks completely into vengefulness and can feel nothing else anymore. And his crew follows him. The principle of revenge and the mechanism of command and obedience determine their lives. Melville depicts in powerful images the struggle of man with himself and nature, thus creating a visionary portrait of our modern civilization, here seen in a poetic production accompanied by enchanting music.
