Description

What does deer antler feel like? And what can be made with your own hands from it? Visitors will experience this on Sunday, November 15, at the Museum of Prehistory. In the Deer Workshop, children and adults get to know various materials and work on them themselves using Neolithic techniques. In the afternoon, a gamekeeper from Zug will talk about the life of deer and other wild animals. Working with antlers and bones
At various stations, visitors can try out Stone Age techniques themselves. You can saw antlers, pierce leather with bone awls, and sew leather pieces together with bone needles and sinews.
Those who want to take home a lasting souvenir made of antler or bone can choose from several studios. Decorative pendants can be made from a piece of antler or bone. The charming little antler box, suitable as a container for small treasures, is inspired by a unique Neolithic find from Zug-Riedmatt.
Working at the trial stations is free of charge. A material cost contribution of CHF 3 to CHF 8 is charged for souvenirs to take home. Admission is free, and no registration is required.
The workshop is wheelchair accessible by elevator, with at least one work table accessible from a wheelchair. Hearing protection is available for noise-sensitive guests. A gamekeeper from Zug provides information
From 2 to 4 p.m., a gamekeeper from Zug will be a guest at the museum and talk about his daily life. He provides insight into the life of today's deer and other wild animals and presents exciting facts about the local wildlife. Please note, if the gamekeeper is called to an urgent mission, this part of the program may be canceled at short notice.
