«Migräne» / «Venir Meno»

Description

As part of the Artist-in-Residence format «Sonic Boom», eight artists and ensembles from contemporary and experimental music have the opportunity to realize their own concert formats, sound performances, and music theater. Over a period of two years, they will design and present two evenings each, in which they can express their individual artistic approaches. Accompanied by an in-house discourse format and mentoring program, the series provides space for exchange between audience, scene, and artists.
The performance «Migräne» is a research project at the intersection of music, theater, and technology. During his engagement with ultra- and infrasound, Léo Collin discovered that both the human body and hearing require technical aids to perceive these frequencies. «Migräne» invites the audience to rethink the relationship between sound, technology, and human perception. With «Venir meno», Francesca Sproccati leads into the palace of Hypnos, the Greek god of sleep, and invites to immerse as a collective body into darkness. Far from the visible and connected to the deepest layers of being, two shimmering figures appear. Sometimes they seem like apparitions of Hypnos himself, who could free us through the eternal sleep of work, competition, and the exhaustion of a performance-oriented society. At other times, they take on the features of Battista, Francesca's great-grandfather and partisan, who contributed to the liberation of Italy from fascism. He embodies the power of collective resistance and the tireless fight against injustice. In this immersive environment, the performers tell their stories through live music and text overlays. On stage, Francesca Sproccati and Léo Collin weave a timeless space between memory, dreams, echoes of past resistance, and the longing for sweet disobedience. Participants and additional information:
