Larches and Light: The Matterhorn

Description

In mid-October, the larches above Findeln turn a brilliant gold, the peaks receive their first snows, and the summer season of cable cars comes to an end. The mountain trails leading to the alpine lakes regain their tranquility. It is precisely during this period that this photographic hike takes place: from Winkelmatten, we ascend through the larch forest to Findeln, then continue on the panoramic trail to Grindjisee, where the Matterhorn is reflected in the water among the larches. We stay as long as the light demands. The return via Findeln coincides with the most beautiful hour of the day, while the descent to Zermatt is at blue hour.
Along the way, the focus is on photographic composition rather than camera technique: learning to read the light, use foreground elements, and create harmonious reflections. Smartphone, hybrid camera, or DSLR, everyone is welcome, and no prior experience is necessary. The group is limited to six participants. After the hike, each participant will receive between five and eight retouched photographs featuring them in front of the Matterhorn.
The hike is guided by Falko Burghausen, a mountain hiking guide in training, Swiss Athletics Trail Running instructor, and multiple international award-winning landscape photographer.
