Description

At the end of World War II, Gerti loses everything: her father, who disappears, her mother, who dies, and her two sisters, who are sent to a home. She remains alone with her grandparents. Only three buttons remain with her, torn from an old vest from her BDM days, intended as a lucky charm for the sisters.
In a still devastated Austria, the girl must learn early to survive alone and to assert her dignity against all societal prejudices of the time. But she never gives up the search for her sisters.
Finally, in 2010, Gerti looks back on her life: on work, children, love, and loss. She thinks: It was not a beautiful life. But it was mine. About the author
Max Moor, born in 1958 in Zurich, is an actor and presenter. In the early 90s, he hosted the award-winning media magazine "Canale Grande" on VOX. Until 2024, he hosted the ARD culture magazine "Titel, Thesen, Temperamente." He lives with his wife near Berlin. Event in cooperation with the Schulmuseum Friedrichshafen.
