Description

LECTURE BY MARTIN PAVLÍČEK A simple young man from Tyrol, who as an apprentice passed through Venice and Rome. In 1708, he appeared in Bohemia and began to shine in the service of the Cistercian monastery in Plasy. The sculpture Vision of St. Luitgard (1710) for Charles Bridge made Braun a star who would not set. The piece, shaped in collaboration with painter Petr Brandl, became a groundbreaking work of high baroque in Bohemia. Soon, Braun began to be employed by other clients from Prague and beyond.
