For the second time in Switzerland and, of course, exclusively at OXIL!
MANGO WOOD is an early Reggae and Rocksteady sensation with members from several bands of Madrid's reggae scene. The style of the Spaniards focuses on oldies sounds, but with great musical versatility.
Boss-Reggae, Skinhead-Reggae, call it what you want, they play it to perfection. Although it is a group with a short history, its members have more than 20 years of experience in national and international bands and festivals. For example, Mango Wood also features members of Rude Pride. An important date for every connoisseur of the fine old art of the genre. After their sensational debut last autumn, they are coming back! Le Birette (ITA)
The band was founded in 2015 in Bologna, Italy. They love and explore Jamaican rhythms of the 60s and 70s: from Ska to Rocksteady and Soul to Reggae, everything is included. The inspiration from vocal trios like The Soulettes, The Techniques, and The Gaylads, as well as instrumental bands from Studio One and Treasure Isle – such as The Skatalites, Sound Dimension, and Soul Vendors – leads to their characteristic blend of multi-voiced singing and vintage grooves. They have already toured Italy, Germany, Spain, Great Britain, France, Belgium, and Jamaica. They shared the stage with many international artists, including Johnny Osbourne, The Skatalites, The Aggrolites, Ken Boothe, Dennis Alcapone, and Keith & Tex, to name just a few. All their records are recorded 'live and direct' in a purely analog studio, in the style of Jamaican productions of the 60s. Naturally, Le Birette also plays the only Swiss show here at OXIL!
