The compositions of the bandleader form the basis and starting point for free improvisations and an innovative jazz deeply rooted in the Brass tradition of New Orleans. Extended by modern playing styles, the powerful, archaic density of traditional sounds mixes with dreamy, lyrical melancholy; transcendent structures meet a jagged, modern sound.
