Description

After the explosive "Ashamed," an impressive performance on Jimmy Fallon's "Tonight Show" and at KEXP, the dazzling post-punk of Mad Foxes returns with their third album "Inner Battles." When fans of "Shame," "Fontaines D. C.," and "Metz" try to develop new sounds and tonal colors, an astonishing and fulfilling album emerges. Mad Foxes then induce the encounter of noise and pop – and dare to unite punk and 80s kitsch – as if Elton John were to have coffee with Joe Talbot. "Inner Battles" is the result of an introspective and intense creative process. The band questions many emotions that flood their lives and relationships and deals with mental health in its most intimate and yet universal essence. Mad Foxes expresses the deep need to articulate and share deep, chaotic feelings, while also trying to come out of these inner conflicts and let hope and light rise. Inner Battles was recorded between January and March 2023 by Christophe Hogommat near Nantes (France). Christophe and the band have already worked together on the previous two albums. Their long-standing friendship created ideal recording conditions and enabled the development of a highly honest, narrative framework for the album. Joris Saïdani was responsible for the mix of the album, drummer of Birds in Row and Fragments, sound engineer, and known for his collaborations with numerous French projects such as BOPS, Simone d’Opale, and Middle Child. His fresh perspective on the recording and his pronounced sense of musicality contributed to giving Inner Battles a radical turn, true to the will of Mad Foxes and Joris, to merge pop and noise into a coherent album. The album was mastered by Thibault Chaumont, an excellent sound engineer who has already worked with Igorrr, Lana Del Rey, and It It Anita. He knew how to give this record the perfect final touch.
