Dense poetry, classical narration or somewhere in between: On the last Monday of the month, the Literaturcafé highlights authors from Biel and the surrounding region. Three French- or German-speaking authors read excerpts from their latest texts, then exchange ideas with you and toast together — in the warm atmosphere that characterizes the Literaturcafé. An excellent opportunity to discover new voices and gain deep insights into the diversity of the Biel literary landscape. Immerse yourself in narrative worlds and enjoy enriching encounters around the written word. PROGRAM Öl Cy Ël Öl Cy Ël (dey/demm, iel/ielle) loves to go passionately in one direction but never follows the path. On site, dey presents prose and theater texts that question the boundaries between our bodies and the space behind and wonder if mountains can still be attractive. His language can be described as 'absurd' and 'hermetic,' but he sometimes allows himself clear sentences, even if they seem artificial. Öl was excavated in 2002 in Schaffhausen and studies literary writing in Biel. He lives in Basel. Luc Victot I was born in France and grew up in a suburb of Paris, which I always wanted to leave. My youth was partly spent with my studies in philosophy and ethnology, partly with travels to India, and partly with engagements in the theaters of the Cartoucherie de Vincennes, especially at Théâtre du Soleil under the direction of Ariane Mnouchkine. In addition, I was a dressmaker, brick burner, parking lot attendant, paper dealer, and extra in Cyrille Collard's film 'Les nuits fauves'... In 1999, I became an Urdu and Nepali interpreter for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Indian Kashmir, Afghanistan, Nepal, and Pakistan. Between two missions, I write and shoot short films. In 2005, I received a screenplay grant from CNC for my documentary 'Sans foi, ni loi' about Pakistani prisoners returning from Guantanamo. However, the project failed because it was too politically sensitive. In 2006, my wife and I finally settled in Switzerland to start a family, and in 2021, we obtained Swiss citizenship. I worked for a while for 'Médecins du Monde' and the contemporary music festival 'Les Amplitudes' before preparing for a teaching degree to become a teacher of French and philosophy. I wandered through jobs I didn't like before quitting teaching in 2025. For the past two years, I have been running a reflexology practice and, alongside writing, have started training as an Ayurveda healer. The short story 'Das Ende der Suche,' published on May 22 of this year in the collection 'Le recueil de Nakamoto' by PVH éditions, comes from the fantasy universe of 'L’Île d’Akarina.' I continue to work on the sequel planned as a trilogy. Additionally, I am working on a crime novel set in India that features the mythical figure Byomkesh Bakshi.
