Lucas Erin's work encompasses installations, sculptures, and sound. The artist is interested in the concept of contact, whose traces are the objects, but also deals with the question of relationships and the fluctuating boundary between inside and outside. With concise means, he explores how an exchange succeeds or fails. Questions of circulation and sharing are at the center of his considerations. His found objects and carefully crafted sculptures are carriers of intertwined stories and at the same time signs of emerging narratives. Inspired by thinkers of creolization and with a fresh perspective on his Martinican heritage, which he views through the prism of the relationship to the ground and the plants rooted in it, Lucas Erin works with associations, reutilizations, and shifts to create new possibilities in the exhibition space. Lucas Erin (*1990) lives and works in Lausanne. His artistic activity is based on a multicultural reflection on encounters, interpersonal relationships, and forms of resistance against social normalization.
