Description

Just a few steps from the Roman Museum of Lausanne-Vidy, the archaeological park offers an ideal complement for visitors wishing to discover the remains of the ancient city of Lousonna. Informative panels and eight optical devices reconstructing the buildings of that time give an impression of the main structures of the site: the basilica (which housed political, legal, administrative, and economic activities) and the temple dedicated to the cult of Rome and the Emperor. On a water body that recreates the ancient shoreline of the lake, an artwork made from 2000-year-old oak piles, created by Etienne and Fabien Krähenbühl, beautifies the place: “Horizons Lousonna”. Halfway between the museum and the park, you can also admire a geometrically designed mosaic that once decorated the bathing room of a Gallo-Roman house.
