Description
Full shelves – but of course! How secure is our supply really? Full shelves seem obvious. But behind them is a complex supply system that depends on many factors. Extreme weather events and geopolitical tensions also put pressure on supply chains. The Agricultural Policy Podcast and swiss-food.ch explore in a joint series* key dependencies and tensions of supply security: between market and state, ecology and production, as well as self-sufficiency and international networking. The series concludes with a live podcast in front of an audience in Bern. Supply security sounds like a common goal. But as soon as the path to it is discussed, conflicts arise: How much can Switzerland rely on imports? What role do mandatory stocks and strategic reserves play? How can reliable supply be combined with the goal of producing as naturally as possible, and at what cost are we willing to pay for it? In the live podcast, different perspectives come together. Together, we discuss how resilient the Swiss food supply is today and what framework conditions are necessary so that the shelves are filled again tomorrow morning. Rebecca Knoth-Letsch, Managing Director of Vision Agriculture Daniel Imhof, Head of Agriculture at Nestlé Switzerland Martin Rufer, Director of the Swiss Farmers' Association Moderation: Andreas Wyss, Host of the Agricultural Policy PodcastHighlights
